John Miranda, Director, Communication, Standards & Research, Technology Architecture & Standards, AXA Financial (p.k.a.) Equitable Life Insurance, has been employed by this company for nearly 20 years. That means he has pictures and knows where the skeletons in the closets are, including the purchasing process and administrative functions regarding consultants. His claim to fame is that in order to provide senior management with what they
wanted, he stealthily "came in under the radar" in 1987 during a 355-person move, by establishing the first enterprise LAN, complete with distributed directory, 3270 terminal emulation, and dial-in to the enterprise e-mail system. After milking that for 10 years, he got kicked upstairs into IT \ Technology Office \ Architecture. He is a professional "suit" by trade and learned the following corporate wisdom from one of his previous managers: "Please, do not confuse this issue with the facts."
